Everyone plays a role in building a culture of integrity and trust at Stanford. You can do your part by raising awareness of any concerns you may have. 

Stanford policy prohibits retaliation against an individual who in good faith reports or provides information about concerns or suspected violations.

Examples of the types of issues you can raise through the Helpline include:

  • Conflicts of interest,
  • Workplace misconduct,
  • Environmental health and safety concerns,
  • Sexual harassment,
  • Theft or fraud,
  • Accounting irregularities,
  • Athletics compliance,
  • Violations of law, contract, or University policy
  • Attempts by foreign governments or their representatives to harass, intimidate, repress, or improperly influence individuals and their speech, teaching, research or other scholarly activities. 

Violations of the University Code of Conduct should be reported to the Helpline, including retaliation.


Sample Concerns

  • Misuse of University Resources/Fraud Financial Misconduct - "One of my co-workers improperly used University funds for personal use."
  • Discrimination or Harassment - "I feel threatened by the actions of an individual in the workplace."
  • Compliance with Laws, Policies, and Procedures - "This transaction violates University policy and/or federal regulations."
  • Conflict of Interest - "My faculty member may have a conflict of interest."
  • Research Misconduct - "One of my colleagues may have falsified research results."
  • Transnational repression – A fellow student said that they are reporting a comment I made in class to my home government. My home country has strict laws prohibiting speech that is critical of the government. I am concerned that this will negatively impact me and my friends and family back home.
